Our next read for Bookshelf Treasures is:

Bookshelf Treasures: The Art of Loving by Eric Fromm

The Art of Loving:  Erich Fromm published in 1956 is a slim volume that has lasted 69 years with a number of commemorative reprints.  What makes a book endure?  Perhaps it is the topic:  Love and how to love.  May's book read will have us take a look again at what is "Love"? Is Love an art? Then it requires knowledge and effort. Fromm was a critic of Freud early on.  Now Freud in many ways has come and gone.  So have a number of theories, medications and novel approaches. Fromm says "love defines us; it is "the answers to the problem of human existence."

He was one of the very first to bring evidence that "the love of my own self is inseparably connected to the  love of any other human being?  Sound familiar?  And then he goes about telling us how to do it!  Join us for a time travel adventure right back to now.
